We are not your average Florist!
Most flower shops buy their product once or twice a week and put it in a cooler to sit until it get used in an order or thrown out. This practice is both limiting and wasteful. We have been in the industry for a very long time and we believe in bringing you the freshest flowers possible with variety that changes every day not every week or month. We began this practice with our shops in San Francisco many years ago in a venture to be a sustainable green business and the cost savings from minimal to no waste and fresher product has us continuing these practices today!
Shopping for Flowers and Vases
At San Antonio Flower Delivery we buy fresh flowers every morning! This means that we get a little bit of a later start than other florists but it also means that we can get the freshest seasonal flowers available with a larger variety that can literally change from day to day! There are plenty of flowers that are staples to most florists and usually are available every day, all year round. We get plenty of these staples each day and also pick up seasonal favorites that can change from day to day, week to week and so on.
When we shop for flowers each day and use them all up it minimizes or eliminates our waste in flowers. It also gives us a green foot print as we don't have to utilize or power large coolers to hold flowers all week long. We used to utilize large energy saving coolers but like all things when they don't work properly they can burn the flowers which is actually freezing them or create a warm environment that cultures bacteria growth in the cooler and flower buckets causing the flowers to expire more quickly than normal.
Shopping daily means that the arrangements we have on our website use many or all flowers that we consider staples and should be able to get without a problem. However, some mixed arrangements may also have seasonal flowers that are only available at certain times of the year meaning we may not replicate it exactly as seen but the style and colors will remain even if some of the flowers change. So, when those flowers are out of season they will be replaced with something that has a similar value and color to the ones that are not in season. We make it a practice to call our customers anytime we have to substitute those seasonal flowers with something else so you can be a part of the final product choice even if it's not exactly the recipe of the arrangement you selected from our website.
We purchase vases daily as well. We have our standard vases that we purchase by the case each week, but we also have several unique offerings that are purchased individually each day. The availability of our vases is usually quite good, but on occasion we may have to change it up based on what our local vendors have available to us.
Variety of Flowers
There are many beautiful seasonal flowers that come and go throughout the year and by shopping every day it allows us to take full advantage of those beautiful flowers as they come into season without predetermining an order and thus limiting what we will be able to offer. When you order a day or more ahead it allows us to specifically look for all of the ingredients in your selected arrangement and recreate it exactly as seen on our website only with fresh blooms. There are occasions when we cannot get the specific ingredients because they are not in season or none of our local vendors have them available that day. Again, this may be a reason for substituting the flowers in the selected arrangement with something else that is of that same value and color to create an arrangement as similar as possible to your chosen piece. If we have to change the color of something we always call to let you know what is available and to let you have the final decision in what we put together for your recipient.
Same Day Orders
We love to help you out in a pinch with a same day flower delivery. We buy plenty of extra flowers each day based on what's available, what's the freshest and what looks the most beautiful. Same day flower arrangements are subject to the flowers we decided to purchase that day and may not be the flowers in the arrangement you selected from our website. We do have a same day floral category that suggests specific arrangements with flowers that are usually in season all year round. However, depending on when you place your order you may be limited to a smaller variety of flowers based on what we have left. We are a very small shop with two designers who work tirelessly to create beautiful arrangements and get them out as quickly as possible for delivery. They purchase flowers first every morning and then bring them to our flower studio to process and pull for each order. If you are ordering towards our cut-off time there will most likely be less selection than someone who orders earlier in the day or ahead of time. We always do our very best to recreate your selection as close as possible and to make you aware of any changes. Because we are small we do often reach our capacity for orders and may have to change our cut-off time when we run out of flowers.
Upgrades
So you are probably wondering why we don't show pictures of the upgrades to our arrangements, and it's because we don't recipe our upgrades. We love to be personal and customize our work to make the best use of the fresh seasonal flowers we hand select every day! Each upgrade is different depending on what we have available in our stock of flowers that day. We always strive to keep the style and color palette of the arrangement you selected when we add value with extra flowers. Sometimes we will use some of the added cost to change the vase to accommodate the extra amount of flowers. Some flowers have a higher price tag than others and some cover a larger surface area that others, but we do our best to give you a taste of the season's best flowers added to your beautiful arrangement using the upgrade amount to make a larger arrangement. Sometimes the amount of the upgrade goes up a lot and other times, the difference is small between a larger and a premium but both are creating a larger arrangement than what you started with. We are always happy to have your input if you are looking for something specific with an upgrade so don't be afraid to give us a call or shoot us an email!
What happens when we sell out of our flowers?
We provide a wonderful count down clock on our front page to let you know how long you have left to order flowers for same day delivery. However, this clock isn't always accurate as it doesn't take into account the number of orders we have each day. Technology is great but it doesn't multi-task well. So, when we run out of flowers available for same day deliveries we will change the clock by cutting off the ability to purchase for a same day order essentially running out the clock sooner than anticipated. That means some days you have the full amount of time to place your order and on busy days you may only have a couple of hours to get those orders in before we are no longer able to accommodate same day orders. Floral delivery is a retail business and like all retail businesses our sales fluctuate. Some days we are slower and have the capacity to take a same day order all the way up to 1:00pm and other days we are busier and may reach our capacity well before 1:00pm. We believe in small business and quality flowers, arrangements and service so we choose to keep it small even if it limits our capacity so that the high standard of quality we strive for can be maintained every day for each and every customer!
Options when we Sell Out
When we cut off same day ordering early, it does not mean we cannot help you share a gift or message of love to someone who really needs it today. It just means you have to call us to see what other items we have available for delivery with a courier if you really need a same day option. We carry wonderful gift baskets of handmade goodies and a few plants that are often available in a pinch to go out with a courier if our shop has sold out of our fresh flowers. Since our website doesn't quite possess the skills to allow only certain products to be purchased after we run out of flowers, you would have to call us at 210-796-6900 to line up plant or gift basket delivery via courier. We always want to help out our wonderful customers, and if fresh flowers aren't available for same day purchase we do have a few other options.
